Friendly Regatta Holds Masterclass for Schoolchildren

On April 16, Sergey Sinitsyn conducted a session at the private Moscow school “Zolotoye Secheniye” (Golden Ratio). The informal gathering took place during a “school assembly” for 1st and 2nd grade students from the primary school center “Raduga” (Rainbow).

In a fun, interactive format, the children brushed up on (or discovered for the first time) facts such as the existence of 89 seas across the globe and one sea with no land borders; that Russia is the only country in the world bordered by 14 seas and oceans simultaneously; and that the equator stretches 40,075.7 kilometers long.

Captain-instructor, founder of the Friendly Regatta sailing travel club, and creator of the Young Mariners Academy family program, Sergey Sinitsyn, also shared the story of a 16-year-old sailor who completed a solo circumnavigation of the globe.

Sergey Sinitsyn’s Take:

“Once again, I saw firsthand just how passionate today’s schoolchildren are about travel and yachting! Eyes wide open, glowing with enthusiasm, and a sea of diverse questions! We even learned to tie nautical knots. They picked it up on the first try—I’d say these kids are fully ready to join the Young Mariners Academy, and we will be delighted to welcome them on our upcoming expeditions,” commented Sergey Sinitsyn.
